Everyone asked about Christmas, but I have a rather strange New Years Tradition that I have done since I was a child. At midnight every year of my life(no matter where I was) I have always gone outside to bang on pots and pans. I am sure this makes my neibors love me, but we enjoy it. Does anyone else have a special way to "ring" in the New Year?

Imma get my smooch on, other than that... I may crack open the bottle of wine that's in the fridge left over from Christmas dinner.

Other than that... *shakes her head*

It's just another day.

Picnic on a hill in whatever town I am living in. Champagne at midnight while we watch the fireworks then we stay there till we see a falling star and make a wish.

Unfortunately I didn't get to do that last night as I have been ill.

For the last 5 years I have celebrated the New Year at work, those damn casinos never close! But this year I was on dayshift and got to stay home to watch the ball drop on TV, which I promtply missed because I was busy showing my sister something on the computer. DAMN THAT HGTV DREAMHOME!!!!! So I had to stay up another hour to watch it happen on MTV, cuz dammit if I was gonna miss it this year!

Wow, I said damn alot in this post.... *ponders a New Year's resolution..*

Anything happen on EQ last night? I know for 4th of July a bunch of gnomes were selling fireworks in PoK...making mad money, they were.

As for what I did, I watched the South Park musical marathon with the wife, drank some, did the smoochie thing, and went to bed about 12:30.

I'm usually the only one up so... when everyone is asleep, I run in their room and yell "HAPPY FRIGGIN' NEW YEAR!!"

In Uru: Live (http://urulive.ubi.com/US) last night, they had a "Happy New Year" banner up and fireworks would go off at (or near) the top of the hour. It was pretty neat. :)

Just the usual; twelve grapes in the first minute of the new year (something my brother's wife, from El Salvador, introduced us to), black-eyed peas, champagne...the usual stuff.
And lots of cheese.

Its not a traiditon but I lost my underwear if you should see them please let me know. Somehow I got two darts in the ceiling of my garage and watched my 5 yr old cousin beat everyone down at Need for Speed Underground on XBOX.

But as far as traditions go I drank more than everyone else and was still up drinking after everyone else passed out. When you have'd that much JD and maragaritas, a 5 yr old will really mess your world up at some video games.

Help me find my underwear.

In FFXI they have monkeys running around in every Zone, casue it is the Chinese year of the monkey, and if you give em stuff they cast buffs on you.

Oh and I usually just stay home and Watch the Top 100 songs of the past yeaar on my national music channel Much music. YAY FOR 9 STRAIGHT HOURS OF MUSIC, MOST OF WHICH I DON'T LIKE!

i just got Uru and have not played it yet. How is it Cat?The offline portion (usually referred to as "Prime") is good, although some parts are difficult and it seems a tad short. That being said, though, it is absolutely stunningly beautiful. There's one "Age" (what the different "worlds" are called) that I just sat and watched the scenery as it scrolled by.

The online ("Live") portion, however, is still in "beta" (or "gamma," maybe, since it already had a pre-release "beta" portion). It is fun talking with people and exploring what little we can explore, but some parts are very visually laggy, and as of January 2, they let in too many new people and the servers are completely overwhelmed, causing connection problems (you know, the usual online game growing pains). Once they get the problems worked out, and the online content starts flowing, it will definitely be fun.

Now, to return to the topic, one tradition I've started in the past few years is to watch the Tournament of Roses parade on HGTV, which shows the parade commercial-free (generally), and has interesting behind-the-scenes information about how they cover the floats and what organic materials are used. It's pretty interesting.

tradition in my family is to eat a piece of pickled herring for luck in the next year. don't know where it came from, but hey, if it brings me luck, i won't complain (and oddly, i'm starting to become fond of pickled herring...)

My New Years Tradition is to try to remember to write the new number on the checks when I'm paying my bills.

The other Tradition is being the designated driver / caretaker / hair-holder for people "discharging excess libations."

I'm just more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
