  • Good movies that are out there now.

um i'm tired, and bored, and i was thinking about funny things (and trying not to laugh out loud), and i wondered what movies everyone out there has seen and enjoyed recently....
    • Master and Commander

ok... that's the only movie i have seen this winter... but I am totally looking foreward to:
    • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Can you give a more thorough review of Master and Commander? I kind of want to see it, but the trailers made it look horrible.. but you could kind of tell that that's the trailers' fault, not the movie. But I'm still on the fence.

The most recent flicks I saw were Finding Nemo and Blue Collar Comedy Tour. The latter was absolutely fantastic - must be the redneck in me showing through. (A British redneck...there's a sight.)

As far as the latest theatrical releases, I'm kind of in the dark...working a graveyard shift in a one-screen-theatre town doesn't allow you to see a lot of new movies.

If we're gonna talk about older films, I have to give a shout out for Waking Ned Devine. One of the greatest British comedies I've ever seen. (Yeah, the story takes place in Ireland, but it's all put on by Brits.)

Master and Commander was great! I really liked it... (but I like history and warfare and stuff like that)... ^_^ If you thought it looked bad, it migh've been the trailers... there are a few surgery scenes... and I admit that I had my eyes closed, and my hands overthem during those parts... but my BF said they weren't THAT bad... i liked it alot...

I hate to say it, but the Texan Chainsaw Massacre remake was a fun ride. Best "thriller," slasher flick in a long time. IMO

I personally can't wait for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It was my favorite book of the series, and I'm glad they did it before half the cast left (Goblet of Fire just won't be the same).

Speaking of which, that /GU Strip is still one of my favorites..

I found The Cat in the Hat to be horrible. Its the first movie in 28 years that I have ever walked out of. My husband also got our money back. Dr. Suess is rolling in his grave right now.

Master & Commander is a historical chase movie. Its beautifully done and is a wonderful peek into the lives of those who lived on the sailing ships of the 1700's and 1800's. The violence, when it occurs, is brutal. Therefore, its not for those who are weak of stomach. Like Gnomish, I had to avert my eyes during one of the nastier medical scenes (my toes are curling up now just thinking about it).

For those who love High Seas adventures, you'll love it.

Pirates of the Caribbean comes out on DVD tomorrow! Woohoo!

                          Looking forward to:

                          Brother Bear
                          Return of the King
Peter Pan (the guy playing Capt. Hook will be wonderful!)

Who's leaving? Like you, I'm looking forward to this one as well. The novel and Goblet of Fire were my two faves.
