  • Way to Go Sony! (*Extreme Sarcasm*)

So they put this new "casino" into effect. I think, hey, thats pretty cool. So, myself, and a few of my friends get together, combine our platinum pools, and total up with about 3 million PP.

So, with the HOPE of fun times ahead.. we buy bags full of tokens, and commence the ENDLESSLY BORING PROCESS of Click, Click, Drop, Click.

And we were not the only ones doing this.. apparently a group of 6 people scraped together about 11 million as well.

Well, after about 4 hours of this incredibly mundane and borish task, not to mention the god awful server lag presented because Sony cant figure out how to compute server loads... between the 11 of us, and 14 million PP total, we came up with...

    NOTHING.

Not ONE decent thing. We all got about 2 bags full of some REALLY crappy stat food (NODROP) and extra "Tokens" to play with. But other then that, NOBODY got anything special. 14 Million at 100pp a pop. Do the Math.. SOMEBODY should have gotten something. By then, the server lag was absolutely unbearable, and soonafter, the servers all crashed. When i got back on today, I saw they took out the "Casino" and I immediatly petitioned regarding this, and was pretty much told the classic "yeah, it was all screwed up, yeah, we know everyone is ticked but "SORRY THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO"

Gotta admit, it was a nice little Scam by sony to sink some platinum. As of today, 505 PM EST, i have yet to find a single person on Inny Server who won anything other then stat food, and with Inny being one of the oldest servers on the block, and thus, the most populated, you know millions of pp was dumped onto that merchant.

Thats why its a game of CHANCE and not skill. If it had been blackjack or poker or something else it would have been nice.

If you pooled together that much plat and spent that much time... it would seem to me to be your own stupid fault for continuing instead of realizing much earlier in the process that the game didn't suit your whims.

In other words... you did it. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I put in 3k just for kicks (and got some of the most expensive food my character's ever had the privilege to consume). I knew from the get-go that this is a CASINO -- odds are ALWAYS on the side of the house! Not to mention, this particular feature was not put into game to be an immediate player benefit, but to balance the economies which were thrown out of whack by the explosion of macro'd plat (where a normal casino redistributes wealth into the owners' pockets, and some to the employees' payroll). You do not go into a casino expecting to win (unless you're foolish!), the best you can do is hope to be one of the few lucky ones.

Some real-life casinos have games with some element of skill as well as chance, helping you skew odds more in your favor if you know what you're doing, but as always, overall odds are in favor of the house, or why would they bother to stay in business? This casino, however, is pure chance, not even any glitz to draw you in (which actually disappointed me a little, the art/design team could have had a bit of fun with the concept). It boggled me seeing the /ooc's of people asking how to skew the odds in their favor on what is obviously pure chance ("How did you win that? were you handing in four at a time or just one? Do I get better prizes if I turn in four instead of one token? ... if I talk to a different vendor? ...if I hop in circles on one leg and whistle "Yankee Doodle Dandy" while clicking the button? (well, not the last one but I was tempted to /ooc back that it helps)). One of the most questioning in /ooc was getting angry that he'd turned in 10 tokens and hadn't gotten a Golden Ticket yet! How DARE Sony!

Personally I think it's kinda neat that there's a chance to get stuff you can't get any other way -- I just know not to count on it! For every rare lucky erson in a casino who walks in and puts a dollar in a machine and gets a jackpot, there's a whole heck of a lot of people who sit and feed tons of money in for nothing, or minor wins (which usually go right back to feed the machine).

As for winners, I sat in Shadowhaven in the evening for a while on Tunare, and I saw two Glowing Black Drums (pally/sk aa horse speed drogmor), two Elder Holgresh Beads, and one Guise of the Deciever won. When someone turns in a Golden Ticket the NPC shouts to the zone what's won ... which happens infrequently enough that it certainly isn't spam! I recall one of the winners said he'd spent 30k, another 85k, before getting a ticket; the others didn't comment.

there was a guy on luclin who won holgresh elder beads, turned around and sold 'em for more than he put into the casino. but then again, that was an exceptionally rare case.

Handing in WR bags to the barbarian women outside the vendor area on the Nexus bank side gets you a token.
I think some more WR bags have been added as drops to the game just for this reason, last night I looted a four slot, medium capacity, 30% WR gem pouch off a troll at the campfire area in Nadox. First time I have ever seen this item drop, and it was right after the patch.
I handed it in and received a token, but I will have to wait until the casino is back up to use it.

              Did I misread something?

I thought THOSE tokens were to allow people to be able to sell bags and stuff.

So you could sell the token on your bazaar mule, then people could hand in the token and get the bag that's associated with it.

Different token! That's designed to allow people to sell bags in trader mode, since the bags themselves can't be put in the Trader Satchels you have to put your sellables in. You turn in the bag you want to sell, then put the token up for sale on your trader; when someone buys it, they turn in the token to the barbarian again and get the bag.

                  I see....

                  Entirely possible I misread it.

That's a very good idea, players can sell things such as their handcrafted 10% WR bags on mules, instead of having to /ooc them all the time.
Then again, I suppose that's the point.

I heard of some Wixxor on Maelin that did win a Fungi staff. So just cause the server is old it don't mean jack. Hopefully prices start getting closer to normal now with people dumping a few million pp into the casino.

Pish, easy enough to confuse two new things named Token that appear on the same day

I think the casino one was King's Court Token while the bag tokens have the name of the bag before "Token".

I also heard tell of people being able to use Bat wings as tokens.

In any decent casino if you win you get your bet back and then some.

In SOE's EQ casino even if you win you lose because the common "prices" are worth a lot less than the 100pp bets.

So if SOE renamed the whole thing to lottery then it would be a little closer to the truth because this was everything but a casino.

Heh heh. This is an amazingly funny thread. You know what? Everybody bitching about the poor odds at the casino, expecially 11 million plat man, the casino is indeed "Working as intended!" It was created to suck plat out of the player economy, and it seems to have worked! Imagine that. At least on your server there is now 11M plat that is no longer floating around.

                              Good job Sony!
